Sustainability

What is Sustainability?

What distinguishes sustainable development from sustainability, one would wonder? While sustainable development refers to the various methods and approaches to achieve sustainability (e.g., sustainable agriculture and forestry, sustainable production and consumption, good government, research and technology transfer, education and training, etc.), sustainability is frequently seen as a long-term goal (i.e., a more sustainable world). Sustainable development has four facets. • The community • The surroundings • Cultural • Economies that are integrated rather than distinct. Sustainability is a paradigm for envisioning a future where societal, economic, and environmental factors are balanced in the quest for a higher standard of living. For instance, a wealthy civilisation depends on a healthy ecosystem to supply its people with resources, food, clean air, and safe drinking water.

Sustainable Development Goals

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which comprises 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), was approved by the General Assembly in September 2015. The new Agenda stresses a comprehensive strategy for attaining sustainable development for everyone, building on the idea of "leaving no one behind." Additionally, disability and people with disabilities are specifically mentioned eleven times in the SDGs. The SDGs make mention to disability in a number of areas, including data collecting and monitoring, education, growth and employment, inequality, and accessibility to human settlements.
